Most images you save from a website today are WebP, because it is 25-35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and every browser supports it. The trouble starts outside the browser: older photo editors, some email clients, document uploaders and print shops still expect JPG or PNG.

The browser already knows how to decode WebP, so this converter just re-encodes the pixels as JPG at the quality you pick. Animated WebP files are converted using their first frame. Transparent areas are filled with white because JPG has no alpha channel; if you need transparency, keep the file as WebP or convert to PNG with the resizer.

How to use it

  2. Set the quality. 90% is visually identical for photos; 80% is fine for screenshots and graphics.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting to JPG lose quality?

Slightly, because both WebP and JPG are lossy. At 90% quality the loss is invisible on screen. Avoid converting back and forth several times.

What happens to transparency?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels become white. Use the image resizer with PNG output if the transparency matters.

Can I convert an animated WebP?

Only the first frame is converted; JPG is a still-image format.
