Shoe size systems measure different things. UK and US sizes count barleycorns (a third of an inch) from different starting points, with US women's sizes running higher than men's; European (Paris point) sizes count two-thirds of a centimetre; and Mondopoint (ISO 9407) simply states the foot length in millimetres. This converter goes through foot length, so you can start from any system and read the others.
It uses the widely cited approximations summarised in the Wikipedia "Shoe size" article: UK adult ≈ 3 × foot length in inches − 23, US men ≈ 3 × foot inches − 22, US women ≈ 3 × foot inches − 21, EU ≈ 1.5 × foot length in cm + 2, and for children UK ≈ 3 × foot inches − 10 and US ≈ 3 × foot inches − 9.75, with children's sizes restarting at 1 after 13½. Results are rounded to the nearest half size and the charts below are generated from the same formulas.
Real sizes vary by brand, model and last by up to a full size, and running shoes are often sized half a size up. The most reliable approach is to measure your foot: stand on paper, mark the heel and the longest toe, measure in centimetres, enter that length here, then check it against the brand's own chart.

Frequently asked questions
Is a UK size the same as a US size?
No. For men, US is about one size larger than UK (UK 8 ≈ US 9); for women the gap is about two sizes (UK 5 ≈ US 7).
How do I convert men's to women's sizes?
US women's sizes are about one size (1 to 1.5 in practice) larger than US men's for the same foot: a US men's 8 is roughly a US women's 9 to 9.5. UK and EU sizes are unisex.
What is Mondopoint?
The ISO 9407 system that labels a shoe with the foot length (and sometimes width) in millimetres. Ski boots and military footwear use it. A 265 Mondopoint shoe fits a 26.5 cm foot.
Why does my EU size differ between brands?
EU sizing specifies the last length, and brands add different allowances and use different lasts. Some also make 2/3 or 1/3 EU sizes. Measure your foot and check each brand's chart.
