Photos taken with the phone on its side, scanned documents fed in upside down and selfies that come out mirrored are common. This tool rotates by 90°, 180° or 270° and flips horizontally or vertically in one step.

The photo's EXIF orientation is applied first, so the rotation starts from the way the image normally displays and the result looks right in every app. JPG, PNG and WebP keep their format. HEIC and AVIF cannot be written by browsers, so they become JPG; GIF and BMP become PNG (animated GIFs keep only the first frame).

How to use it

  1. Drop an image or click to browse.
  2. Choose the rotation and tick Flip horizontally or Flip vertically if needed.
  3. Click Rotate / flip. The result card shows the new dimensions.
  4. Download the file.

Frequently asked questions

Is JPG rotation lossless?

No. Browsers cannot rotate JPG data losslessly, so the image is decoded, rotated and saved again. At the default 92% quality the difference is not visible, but repeated rotations add up; rotate once from the original.

What is the difference between rotating 180° and flipping vertically?

Rotating 180° turns the image upside down and keeps text readable when turned back. Flipping vertically mirrors it top to bottom, so text becomes mirrored.

My photo already looks correct on the phone but sideways on a website. Will this fix it?

Yes. Some websites ignore the EXIF orientation tag. This tool writes the pixels in the displayed orientation and drops the tag, so choose "No rotation" and the file will look the same everywhere.

Is the image uploaded?

No. Decoding, rotating and encoding all happen in your browser.
